Easy Fried Scallops


  • 1 lb large sea scallops
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs


  • Preheat oil in a deep fryer or heavy pot to 375°F.
  • In a shallow dish, combine flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder and onion powder. Set aside.
  • In another shallow dish, whisk together egg and water. Set aside.
  • In a third shallow dish, place panko breadcrumbs.
  • Dip each scallop in the flour mixture, then into the egg mixture, and finally coat with the panko breadcrumbs.
  • Fry scallops for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
